Take this one with a grain of salt. I can’t make myself believe it but I can’t deny the potency of the experience. A hallucination is just a vision, these experiences are full-force, impacting me on so many levels. Make of it what you will.
I was standing before an immense, ornate door made of obsidian and gold. This place was a necropolis, the halls of the dead. Behind me was only blackness and before me the door rose further than I could see. I realized the light that allowed me to see this was emanating from my body. I stepped forward and opened the doors, entering a vast cavern filled from floor to ceiling with coffins. They went up seemingly forever but I knew the dead inside were merely sleeping, waiting to be awakened.
When I entered the room, the blackness disappeared and everything glowed a radiant white. The black stone turned silvery and all of the coffins shattered into silvery snow. The souls of the dead surrounded me, a vast army of them. They were likewise silvery white.
The catacombs dissolved and there was an immense, ancient, silvery-white tree on a high ledge before me. Its leaves shone like moonlight. I approached the ledge and looked down into a chasm that was filled with smoky fog. There were enormous, armored titans wearing silver armor and wielding axes. Their eyes glowed a fiery orange as they chopped away at the roots of the tree, weakening it.
I jumped into the chasm and touched one of the titans, curious what was inside. I was surprised to find its armor was empty. There was only a small, black, slimy worm inside. I held out my finger and the worm crawled onto it. I held it up and examined it. As I did so, I saw the fiery gates of hell opened before me. A flaming portcullis was down, closing the gates, but behind it I could see row after row of immense titans, all with fiery orange eyes.
I opened the portcullis and something strange happened. The titans escaped, meeting up with the host of silvery souls who had followed me out of the catacombs. As soon as they met, they merged. There was a horrendous howling as the demons merged with the souls. Oh, the suffering! The souls screamed in pain. It was as if they were waking up and feeling all of the emotions they had never allowed themselves to feel when they were living. When it was over, they had changed, becoming much more recognizable as human. Dressed in rags, they held their hands over their faces, overwhelmed by grief.
The gates of hell had changed after the demonic titans escaped and now opened into a gorgeous, autumn world. The trees were aflame with orange. We were in a deep, rocky valley filled with an ancient wood. Animals were everywhere, birds, foxes, bears, squirrels and wolves. Everything felt more alive than before but also like a world on the verge of slumber. I knew we had to keep moving and led the vast army of grieving souls upward to a deep ravine.
There was a hole of blackness in the center of the ravine, a cave that led to the annihilating blackness of Absolute. I knew we had to enter the blackness to be purified so I led everyone inside.
There was only darkness, no sound, no sensation, not even any memory. Just blackness. Slowly, though, the blackness gave way to green light. I followed it and emerged into a verdant valley. At first I thought there was an immense city made of natural rock and covered in greenery but then realized it was a hollow mesa of sorts. Surrounded by rocky walls covered in vines, it opened into a veritable paradise. Waterfalls rained down from the rocky cliffs above, forming a myriad of streams and rivers around islands of pure, mossy green. It was incredibly beautiful and also full of life.
The Woman in White and her companion, the silent man who also dresses only in white, greeted us. “You’ve outdone yourself this time!” she laughed, taking my hand and leading me through the valley. The souls became joyful when they entered the green valley, laughing and playing and growing younger before my eyes.
“This is an in-between place,” the Woman explained, “but a very necessary one. They need to remember what it’s like to be human, remember the joy and the beauty. It is healing for them.” She gestured to the playful souls, now like young children. One swam up to us from the river and then leaped out at me, pushing me down onto the grass. A bunch more joined in and soon I was covered by a giggling horde of children.
Soon, however, they slipped off of me and back into the water. I looked down, surprised they were like tadpoles or gametes swimming in a primordial pool. “Time moves differently here,” the Woman said, gesturing ahead of us. “And now they must leave.”
I followed her pointing finger and saw the ghostly stillness of the Crossroads opening like a portal before me. “Time for them to be reborn,” the Woman said, walking toward the doorway between worlds. “Thank you for your help.”
